Acupuncture and pelvic pain
At Acuwellness Center, we are specialized in women’s health and treating gynecological problems using Traditional Chinese medicine including Acupuncture and Chinese herbs. Using these modalities we are able to treat conditions which cause pelvic pain. Conditions treated successfully with Acupuncture and Chinese herbs include: 1-Endometriosis: Endometriosis is a benign disease defined by the presence of ectopic endometrial glands and stroma and has been linked to pelvic pain and infertility. The most effective treatment for endometriosis is via laparoscopic excision of endometrial adhesions. However, in many cases patient will continue to suffer from pelvic pain and discomfort. Acupuncture and Chinese herbs have been affective in reducing pelvic pain, dysmenorrheal (period pain), and irregular menstruation due to endometriosis. 2. Irritable Bowel Syndrome: Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a disorder that leads to abdominal pain and cramping, changes in bowel movements, and other symptoms. Acupuncture has been shown to be effective in treating the root cause of IBS and reducing pelvic pain due to this condition. 3. Chronic Interstitial Cystitis: Interstitial cystitis (IC) is a painful condition due to inflammation of the tissues of the bladder wall. The cause is unknown. The condition is usually diagnosed by ruling out other conditions (such as sexually transmitted disease, bladder cancer, and bladder infections). IC is frequently misdiagnosed as a urinary tract infection. Patients often go years without a correct diagnosis. On average, there is about a 4-year delay between the time the first symptoms occur and the diagnosis is made. The condition generally occurs around age 30 to 40, although it has been reported in younger people. Women are 10 times more likely to have IC than men. Some studies have suggested that Acupuncture and herbs are an effective modality in treating this condition. If you suffer from the above disorders, we encourage you to try acupuncture in our office.
